Media-related projects tackle the challenges owing to the rapidly changing media landscape and international competition, and to do this in close collaboration with the media sector - traditional media (newspapers and weeklies), the audiovisual media (radio and TV) and the gaming sector.
MECaNO - Media Contribution Network Optimization (iMinds ICON project, 2014-2015)
The goal of this project is to provide both a technical and techno-economic optimal solution for the transmission of large file-based media files over (existing) IP-based network infrastructure, tailored to the quality and timing requirements of current and future media process flows in Flanders. The techno-economic work focuses on cost and business modeling of the media network with quality constraints. Want to learn more about our work? Check out our [poster]!
OMUS - Optimizing MUltimedia Service delivery (iMinds ICON project, 2010-2012)
The objective of OMUS is to optimize video delivery with respect to quality (QoS, QoE) in (possibly interactive) video services and real-time conferencing in large meeting rooms (e.g. parliaments) including remote participation. The techno-economic work included network planning and dimensioning, cost-benefit evaluation of services and value network evaluation for service delivery.
